close February 28, 2027 for books published in 2026.
Winners will be notified by April 30.
What books are eligible?
Narrative histories of the Civil War era published in 2026 with original cartography that is the product of collaboration between the author and cartographer.
Battlefield guides and atlases are not eligible.
Who can submit a book?
The author, cartographer, or publisher can submit a book.
Judging Criteria
In selecting a winner, the judges will consider the overall excellence of the book and of the original cartographic research and design that together produce an integrated narrative of exceptional quality.
